🔘 Biography

➖ Marina Bar Golani

➖ Italy 🇮🇹

My name is Marina Goldina (Bar Golani), I am an Italian based photographer.

I was born in the capital city of Lithuania, Vilnius. My photography story begins very early in my childhood – I started travelling when I was 11 years old with some children club summer camps. We went to Poland, Hungary, Austria, Czech Republic, Finland, Estonia, Slovakia, Italy and each time I was amazed by the beautiful cities and the landscapes, so my parents always gave me their Fujifilm pocket camera and two rolls of a basic film. We always printed the photos after my return and in fact I still have most of them at home.

When I was 16 years old, I moved to live in Israel and continued taking pictures of the breathtaking landscapes there, so for the 17th birthday I asked for a digital camera. It was Olympus, I remember it had 5 Megapixels and a 32 Mb of memory card (!) which I “upgraded” to one that had 128 Mb, which now seems like pre-history. When I was 19 years old, I bought my first DSLR-like camera, which I enjoyed a lot and a year after I purchased my first real DSLR – Nikon D80. I took a photography course and numerous workshops, always took my camera with me when travelling and took pictures in manual mode, later on I even photographed some weddings, which at the time felt a little overwhelming. With the time I changed my camera to a Nikon D7000, which followed me everywhere until a few months ago. During the years I took some more courses and workshops and lately I started really dedicating myself to landscape photography and I really feel that finally I succeed putting a little bit of myself in the pictures, thanks to my teacher, Lorenzo Nadalini, whom I found in Italy (to which I moved two years ago with my husband and children)  and who is helping me to find my style and improve my techniques.

I sincerely hope to continue learning and improving and to have some impact on people who see my pictures and maybe even inspire somebody.
