I am Khalid Mahmood from Lahore, Pakistan. I was born and bred here. For last many years Photography has been my introduction and I am pleased with this because I am presenting my surroundings to the world; how my people live, how they keep themselves happy and what they believe in. In other words, I have been trying to show the world the joys, grieves and the lifestyle of my people. I don’t have any set agenda to follow while photographing. As a matter of fact the photographs roaming around inspire me and I save these in my camera. I am a poet, short story writer and photographer, these photographs are my poems which when slightly expand become short stories. When I put forward all these through my camera, these get metamorphosed into photographs. I am ever surrounded by characters and I don’t want escape from these. On the contrary I love them. They are living characters – living with the variety of colures, feelings and emotions. They inspire me and I capture them. I believe that the first to inspire an artist is his environment. Hence I think that an artist owes to this environment. I farther believe that if you can’t grief and smile with your people, share their hardships, you can never be a true artist. Photography is an art and I am a student of this art. So, it demands that I must breathe with my people.
